Digital PR
A short study, a price survey or a local story pitched to Nepali news sites, portals and industry blogs. Journalists link to sources that give them something new to report.
I’m Ujjwal Rupakheti, an SEO specialist and developer in Itahari, Nepal. My link building earns backlinks from real, relevant websites through digital PR, useful content and local citations. I never buy links or use link farms. It’s part of monthly SEO from NPR 30,000, and most campaigns show movement in 3 to 6 months.

01The basics
A white-hat backlink is a link another site gives you because your page is useful to its readers, not because you paid or swapped for it. Google’s spam policies treat bought links, link schemes and private blog networks as manipulation, so those links can be ignored or lead to a manual action against your site.
Links still matter because they’re how Google discovers pages and judges which ones other people trust. One link from a relevant Nepali news site, trade association or supplier usually does more than hundreds from unrelated directories. Mentions on trusted sites also help AI assistants recognise your business as a real entity.
You can read the rules yourself in Google’s link spam policy. Every method on this page stays inside them.
02Methods
Six methods, chosen by what your business has to offer. Each one gives a real site owner a reason to link, which is the only kind of link that lasts. They’re one part of the wider SEO work I do in Nepal.
A short study, a price survey or a local story pitched to Nepali news sites, portals and industry blogs. Journalists link to sources that give them something new to report.
Guides, calculators and checklists other sites cite. As a developer I build small tools too: for Pustau (pustau.com) I built a Bikram Sambat to AD engine verified for every day from 1970 to 2100.
Your name, address and phone shown the same way on Google Business Profile and on the directories and associations that matter for your trade and town.
Brands you stock, suppliers, event partners and associations often have a page listing members or stockists. Asking for a link there is quick and natural.
Articles for relevant publications, where the editor decides what runs. I’ve written 200+ SEO articles across five domains and pitch to the same standard.
Sites that already mention your brand without linking, and pages linking to resources that no longer exist, which your content can replace.
03Risk
Buying backlinks is risky and usually a waste of money. Paid links that pass ranking credit break Google’s spam policies, and many cheap link packages come from blog networks or spam directories Google already ignores. At best they do nothing; at worst they trigger a manual action.
| Tactic | Why I avoid it | What I do instead |
|---|---|---|
| Buying links or “DA 50+” packages | Breaks Google’s link spam policy. DA is a third-party score, not a Google metric. | Earn links with digital PR and useful content |
| Private blog networks | Sites built only to pass links, and easy for Google to spot | Links from real sites with real readers |
| Link exchanges at scale | Excessive swaps are a listed link scheme | Partner links where the relationship is real |
| Spun guest posts | Thin articles on unrelated sites that readers ignore | Editorial articles on relevant publications |
| Exact-match anchors everywhere | An unnatural pattern that invites a closer look | Brand names and natural wording |

04Reporting
You see every site I contacted and every reply in a shared sheet, and a monthly report of the links won. Nothing is bought, so some pitches are declined; that’s normal and it’s in the report too.
The exact URL, so you can open it and check the link yourself.
The words used and the page on your site the link supports.
Live, pending or declined, with the reason when an editor says no.
The rankings and clicks of the pages the links point at.
Process
Five stages, from the links you already have to a monthly report of every link won. The tools I use for the audit are in my guide to the best SEO tools for Nepal.
Your current links from Search Console and a backlink tool: what helps, what’s spam and what needs no action.
The pages worth linking to, and the resources or stories worth creating.
Relevant Nepali and international sites, checked by hand for real readers and topical fit.
Personal emails from me, polite follow-ups, and content written for each placement.
Every link won, its page and anchor, and the rankings of the pages it supports.
05Foundations
Usually, yes. Links send authority to the page they point at, so that page has to deserve the visit and load properly. Links to a thin or broken page rarely move rankings, and editors are less likely to link to it at all.
That’s why a campaign often begins with a technical SEO audit, a keyword map that picks the pages to promote, and SEO content writing for the resources we pitch.
On my own products I build linkable parts in from the start. The Nimtto source code is public on GitHub, and accurate tools like Pustau’s date engine are exactly the kind of resource other sites link to.
06Local
For a local business the most useful links are often the simplest. They also build the prominence that decides your place in the map pack, which I cover on my local SEO page.
A complete Google Business Profile and the same details on Facebook, Apple Maps and the directories for your trade.
Member lists from trade bodies and local chambers of commerce, which are real organisations with real readers.
Stockist pages, sponsor lists and event pages from businesses you already work with.
Openings, community events and useful local data are stories regional news sites and portals cover.
Pricing
I don’t sell links by the piece. Link building is part of my monthly SEO plans, which start from NPR 30,000 a month, and the scope depends on how much content and outreach your market needs.
| Service | Starting price | Typical timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly SEO with link buildingAudit, assets, outreach and a report of every link | NPR30,000 / month | 3–6 months to see movement |
| Technical SEO audit firstSo the pages you promote can rank | NPR15,000 | 1 week |
| Links sold one by onePaid links, packages and networks | Not offered | Never |
Paid tool subscriptions are not included. International clients are quoted in USD, and how links fit a wider plan is covered in how to do SEO in 2026. The full price table is in my services pricing, and the SEO cost in Nepal guide explains what each budget buys.
Safety, timing, cost and what counts as a good link.
Ask me on WhatsAppYes. Links are still one of the main ways Google finds pages and judges which ones other sites trust. What has changed is that spam links are largely ignored, so a few relevant links from real sites now do far more than many weak ones. Mentions on trusted sites also help AI assistants recognise your business.
A good backlink comes from a real site with real readers, on a page about a topic close to yours, placed in the text because it helps those readers. A link a customer might actually click is worth more than one buried in a footer or a list of hundreds. Relevance beats any third-party authority score.
No. Real editors decide whether to link, so a guaranteed number usually means paid or network links. Domain Authority and Domain Rating are scores made by Moz and Ahrefs, not by Google, so I report on the links won and the rankings of the pages they support.
Google requires paid placements to carry rel=“sponsored” or rel=“nofollow”, so they pass no ranking credit. Paying for a followed link to influence rankings breaks Google’s spam policies. I use editorial guest articles instead, where the publication chooses to publish because the piece helps its readers.
They can. Google treats nofollow as a hint rather than a strict rule, and a nofollow link from a busy news site still brings visitors, helps Google discover your page and makes your brand more familiar. I don’t chase them for ranking credit, but I don’t turn down a relevant one either.
Most campaigns need three to six months before links show up in rankings, and competitive keywords take longer. Google has to find each link, and the pages they support need time to gain trust. I report every month, so you can see links being won before rankings move.
Yes. For local businesses the most useful links are often the simplest: a consistent Google Business Profile, local directories and associations, suppliers and event partners, and local news. They also support your map pack visibility, which I cover on my local SEO page.
Rarely. A toxic backlink is a spam link pointing at your site, often from hacked or auto-generated pages, and Google ignores most of these on its own. I only recommend a disavow file when there’s a manual action or clear evidence of a paid link scheme in the site’s past.
Link building is part of my monthly SEO plans, which start from NPR 30,000 a month. The scope depends on how much content and outreach your market needs and is agreed in writing before we start. I don’t sell individual links or link packages.
